How to Export Reports from Meta Ads Manager

Exporting turns the table you see in Ads Manager into a file you can open in a spreadsheet, send to a colleague or have emailed on a schedule. Meta gives you a one-click default export and a set of options behind a dropdown, and Ads Reporting has its own export for saved reports. Meta notes you can export the table after you customize it, though a short list of fields can’t go into a spreadsheet.

How do you do a quick export?

1. Set up the reporting table with the columns, breakdowns and date range you want.
2. Click Export at the top right of the reporting table.

Meta says this default export downloads as a .csv, includes summary totals and leaves out deleted campaign data. If you’ve exported before, it reuses your latest export settings.

What other export options are there?

Click the dropdown menu next to Export to choose one:

How do you schedule an emailed export?

1. Click the dropdown next to Export and choose Schedule export.
2. Name your report and choose any additional data to include.
3. Set up delivery and choose recipients.
4. Click Schedule.

How do you export from Ads Reporting?

Ads Reporting lets you create, customize, export, share and schedule reports. Meta says you should have administrator, advertiser or analyst access to the ad account for the report.

1. Open Ads Reporting and find your saved report in the list.
2. Tick the box beside the report name and click Export, or open the report and click Export there.
3. Choose .xlsx or .csv.

To share instead, click Share. Meta says you can share with people inside or outside your business; outsiders can’t edit the report or see unsaved changes, and you can set an expiry date on their link.

What won’t export?

Meta lists columns that can’t go into a spreadsheet: tags, age, gender, location, body, destination type, link (URL), preview link, related Page and title. You can still see them in the reporting table. The maximum reporting window for an export is 37 months from the date of your request.

Is exporting reports the same as exporting ads?

No. Exporting ads pulls the campaign, ad set and ad settings into a .csv or text file so you can edit them in Excel and import them back to publish in bulk. Meta says some advertising features aren’t supported when you export and import ads this way.

Why doesn’t my export include deleted campaigns?

The default quick export leaves deleted campaign data out. To include it, open the dropdown next to Export, choose Customize export, and select deleted campaign data as additional data to include. You can also choose there whether to keep the summary totals.

How far back can I export Meta ads data?

Meta sets the maximum reporting window at 37 months from the date of your request, for both Ads Manager exports and Ads Reporting reports. If you need the same data regularly, Schedule export emails campaign data on a set schedule to people who have access to your account.

Can I send a report to someone outside my business?

From Ads Reporting, yes, as a shared link. Meta says people outside your business can view it but can’t edit the report or see unsaved changes, and you can set an expiration date for their access. The Share table link option in Ads Manager is for people in your business.
